Past Event: UNIVERSITY OF GHANA STAFF AND STUDENTS VISIT THE CUBAN EMBASSY
On the occasion of the Cuban Culture Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Ghana invited students and staff from the Centre for Latin American Studies, the European Languages Department and the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy of the University of Ghana to its premises.
The celebration of the Day of Cuban Culture featured an engaging game competition, with participants winning various prizes. The highlight of the event was the screening of the historical film “Inocencia,” directed by Alejandro Gil. The film, set in November 1871 in Havana, Cuba, portrays the tragic story of eight Cuban first-year medical students who were unjustly imprisoned and executed by volunteer soldiers in the Spanish army and corrupt officials from Spain.
The event concluded with a brief lecture on Cuban history, enriching the understanding of the invited guests on Cuba's cultural heritage.
