With deep respect and admiration, the Centre for Latin American Studies UG, honors the life of Mario Vargas Llosa, who passed away on April 13, 2025. A Nobel Prize Laureate and one of Latin America’s most influential writers, his work transcended borders and inspired generations worldwide.

Vargas Llosa’s novels, including The Time of the Hero and The Feast of the Goat, reshaped global literature, while his advocacy for democracy and human rights left a lasting impact on politics and society.

As we celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy, our thoughts are with his family, the people of Peru, and all whose lives he touched. His words and vision will continue to inspire.
