PAST EVENT: AFRICAN HERITAGE IN BRAZILIAN CULTURE
On Wednesday, 9th July 2025, the Centre for Latin American Studies (CLAS), in collaboration with the Embassy of Brazil in Accra, organized a seminar titled "African Heritage in Brazilian Culture" at Casa Hispánica, University of Ghana. The keynote speaker, H.E. Mariana Madeira, Ambassador of Brazil to Ghana, delivered a presentation on the historical and cultural connections between Brazil and Africa, with a particular focus on Ghana and West Africa. The session was moderated by Dr. Charles Didier Noa, Lecturer in the Spanish Section of the Department of European Languages.
The event drew a diverse audience of students, faculty, and researchers, and was graced by the presence of Prof. Benedicta Lomotey, Director of the Centre for Latin American Studies, and Dr. Joanna Boampong, Head of the Department of European Languages. Also in attendance were lecturers and diplomats from the Brazilian, Chilean, and Peruvian Embassies
